High Side Gondola Number 1313

General Information

This gondola is in fair shape with little or no paint. Outside the car is fairly normal with the exception that there are no end tie downs. On the inside, the car has a flat floor with a large number of metal patches. There are three odd notches in the bottom left side board, and the bottom right side board is actually in three pieces. All four of the inside bottom corner plates are two boards high. The number 0442 is spray painted on the side of the car, so it is possible the car's real number is 1442. This number would still put it in the 1250 to 1499 series that is covered in this article. There are two gondolas presently at Silverton, both of which have apparently valid car numbers painted on their undersides. This is where the 1313 number for this car comes from, and I believe it to be a much more creditable number.
