6300 Series Flatcar
Drawings
These drawings were developed from measurements and photos of the two existing cars. The cars are not exactly alike, and the differences are reflected in the drawings. The biggest difference is in the placement of the retainer and the special brackets added to the 6314. I believe the drawings of the 6302 more closely reflect what these cars looked like while in service with the Rio Grande.
The drawings are presented in the Adobe Acrobat PDF format to achieve the best possible reproduction on the reader's machine. Most newer browsers will open the PDF files without a problem. If yours doesn't, the Acrobat Reader is available from the Adobe Web Site. It's free, and loading it will allow you to open and print the drawings in the most acurate way. The Annual Report issue was also done using Acrobat, so if you got that issue to work, you shouldn't have any trouble with these drawings. To return to the rest of this issue, close Adobe Acrobat Reader.
The drawings are drawn in both one inch equals a foot and one quarter-inch equals a foot and are heavily dimensioned. Because of possible scaling problems, it is suggested that the reader print the drawings and then check the scale for accuracy. It should be possible to enlarge or reduce the drawings on a copier if this proves to be necessary.
