RIDGWAY SHOPS

For many years I've built models for other people as a distraction from my normal HOn3 modeling adventures. I find these new challenges stimulating and help fine tune my modelling skills. Over the past few years, I've spent an increasing amount of time remotoring brass steam locomotives and installing DCC. I've always jokingly called my workshop the "The Ridgway Shops" after the Rio Grande Southern's main servicing facility. With an increase in demand for my services, I've turned the The Ridgway Shops into a small sideline business. I don't take on many projects but if you have some work you'd like done, feel free to contact me at ridgwayshops @ riograndesouthern.com to discuss it.

On this site, I've posted information about some of the projects I've completed with the goal of helping others in the hobby. Information about getting old brass locomotives to run properly seems to be sorely needed in the modeling community. I've tried to weigh heavily in that area. DCC installs seems to be another hot topic so I've posted some information on that too. I've also created a drive train calculator that I use for my projects and thought others might find useful too.

Following this theme, I wrote and exhaustive article for the HOn3 Annual that takes the reader step by step through the process.  I highly recommend it if you are thinking about making your own brass RTR.
