Pacific Pike - Mogul 2-6-0

This is a typical 1950s/1960s brass locomotive.  It is fairly basic by todays standards but still a decent model.  It came to me looking fairly crude and beat up. Many of the solder joints in the frame were failing so I grit blasted the paint off of it so that I could make the necessary repairs.  I also stripped the paint off the rest of the locomotive.  In the process, many other solder joints let go and I found that a previous owner had epoxied a lot of it together.  I ended up resoldering about 1/3 of the locomotive including most of the frame.  That was all before I could remotor it like the owner had requested.  I ended up giving it a first class paint job and a silky smooth drivetrain consisting of a NWSL gearbox, torque arm and Mashima motor.   It now runs and looks fantastic.

Re-motor Work
* NWSL #151-6 36:1 non-idler style gearbox, 3.0mm axle. Upper front and sides of gearbox were filed to create clearance between frame and cylinder guide hangers.
* Fabricated motor mount from .030 brass stock and soldered to existing motor mount to allow for screw type removal.
* Installed Mashima FM-1426 motor.
* Used NWSL 2.0mm universal cup on motor, NWSL 2.4mm universal cup on gearbox and fabricated a drive shaft from NWSL 2.0mm driveshaft material and NWSL universal joint tees.
* Created torque arm between gearbox and motor from .010 brass stock. 2.0mm x 3mm screw to mount torque arm to motor. Two 1.4mm holes tapped in top of gearbox to accept 1.4mm x 3mm screws to mount other end of torque arm.
