Milepost 52.6 LIZARD HEAD Elev. 10,250 Lizard Head pass is the highest point on the railroad and the end of the step climb from Vance Junction. Here, the railroad was plagued with snow problems and originally covered the mainline, siding and wye with a large snowshed. Half of the snowshed burned in 1940. The area is open pasture surrounded by beautiful mountains.
