Milepost 26.6 PLACERVILLE Elev. 7,321 Placerville and Old Placerville were once the largest shipping point for sheep in Colorado. Along with stock movements, the railroad also served the lumber, petroleum and mining communities of the area. The town itself is built along the red sandstone banks of the San Miguel River.
