Milepost 0.0 RIDGWAY Elev. 7,003
Ridgway is the northern most terminal of the Rio Grande Southern Railroad and is the interchange point with the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad.  The town is a prosperous farm-and-ranch community nestled in a lush valley surrounded by mountains.  The R.G.S. built its main shops here and eventually a 7 stall roundhouse.  Most heavy locomotive repairs were completed at Ridgway and the town is famous ofr being the birthplace of the "Galloping Goose".

My model depicts the town fairly closely.  The yard follows the prototype track arrangement.  The engine servicing facility is slightly condensed and missing one maintenance of way track.  The town is on a peninsula and is operated from both sides.  It and the Ophir Loop are the first thing a visitor sees when entering my train room.  My layout runs point to point and Ridgway is one terminus.
